Amyloid Beta Precursor Protein Binding Protein B1 (APBB1)
APBB1 is a member of the Fe65 protein family. It is an adaptor protein localized in the nucleus. It interacts with the Alzheimer's disease amyloid precursor protein (APP), transcription factor CP2/LSF/LBP1 and the low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein. Human Fe65 encodes a 735-amino acid polypeptide with 95% similarity to the rat sequence. The human and rat sequences are nearly identical in their WW and PTB domains. Northern blot analysis of human tissues revealed that Fe65 is expressed as 2.3- and 2.8-kb mRNAs in brain; the larger transcript is also present in other tissues. In situ hybridization studies demonstrated widespread Fe65 expression in mouse brain. Human FE65 contains 14 exons ranging in size from 6 to 735 bp. All splice sites conform to consensus sequences except for the donor site of intron 10.
