Apramycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic used in veterinary medicine. Apramycin is a structurally unique antibiotic that contains a bicyclic sugar moiety and a monosubstituted deoxystreptamine. Apramycin has a bactericidal action against many gram-negative bacteria. Apramycin has a wide antibacterial spectrum, and has a strong antibacterial effect against Gram-negative bacteria, especially pathogenic bacteria such as E. coli and Salmonella that are resistant to other antibiotics. It also has a good antibacterial effect on Gram-positive bacteria (some Streptococci), Treponema pallidum and some Mycoplasmas.
