CNE1 Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Cells (CNE1)

The CNE1 cell line is a nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cell line that was established from a primary nasopharyngeal carcinoma biopsy of a 62-year-old male Cantonese patient in 1982. These cells were immortalized and exhibit characteristics of epithelial cells derived from nasopharyngeal tissues. The CNE1 cell line has been extensively used in research to study the biology, pathogenesis, and treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, a type of head and neck cancer that is prevalent in certain populations, particularly in Southern China and Southeast Asia.

Studies with the CNE1 cell line have contributed valuable insights into the biology of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, including its genetic alterations, signaling pathways, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment. This cell line has been instrumental in identifying novel therapeutic targets and developing new treatment approaches for patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
