Summary	<p>C10, known also as SCYA6 (small inducible cytokine A6) is one of several mRNAs that are acutely expressed in myelopoietic mouse bone marrow cultures stimulated by GM-CSF. It is also strongly elevated during the induction of neutrophilic differentiation of 32D cells that are dependent on the presence of IL3 or G-CSF.</p><p>C10 is related to MIP-1. Its protein sequence demonstrates that C10 belongs to the family of chemotactic cytokines known as Chemokines (beta-Chemokines or CC-Chemokines). The protein contains six instead of four conserved cysteine residues. The C10 gene contains a second exon not found in other Chemokines. This exon encodes a 16 amino acid sequence, which is inserted into the amino terminal region of the protein and plays a key role in recognizing or activating chemokine receptors.</p>
