Interferon Alpha Inducible Protein 27 Like Protein 1 (IFI27L1)
By searching for genes encoding proteins similar to 6-16 (IFI6) and ISG12 (IFI27), Parker and Porter (2004) identified FAM14B, which they called ISG12C. The deduced 104-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of 9.5 kD. Like other ISG12 family members, it contains a conserved 80-amino acid ISG12 motif.By genomic sequence analysis, Parker and Porter (2004) mapped the ISG12C gene to the ISG12 gene cluster on chromosome 14q32, where it lies centromeric to the IFI27 gene in a head-to-tail orientation.
IFI6 was induced in HeLa cells by IFNA and IFNB. Following transfection in mouse cells, human IFI6 was expressed in response to mouse Ifna and Ifnb, but not Ifng, with the same kinetics and dose response as in human cells.

Organism species: Homo sapiens (Human)
