Cell Cycle Progression 1 (CCPG1)
By screening a human hepatoma cDNA expression library for clones that could block mating pheromone-induced G1 arrest in yeast, Edwards et al. (1997) cloned CCPG1, which they called CPR8.By sequencing clones obtained from a size-fractionated human brain cDNA library, Nagase et al. (1999) cloned CCPG1, which they designated KIAA1254. The transcript contains several repetitive elements in the 3-prime end, and the deduced protein contains 711 amino acids. RT-PCR ELISA detected very high expression in adult brain and in all specific brain regions examined. All other tissues, including fetal brain and liver, showed moderate to high expression.Edwards et al. (1997) showed that CCPG1 required cyclin-3 to induce resistance to pheromone-induced G1 arrest in yeast. CCPG1 also increased basal cyclin-3 levels in yeast.
