Epididymis Fibroblasts (EF)

Epididymis Fibroblasts (EF) are the main component of the outer membrane of the ductus epididymidis.  Chronic epididymitis and epididymal cancer are  characterized by dense fibrosis throughout the organ, so the study of EF is crucial for epididymal diseases. Numerous studies have identified tumor-supporting roles for EF, such as promoting immunosuppression supporting tumor metabolism, and facilitating chemoresistance. However, recent data has also identified tumor-suppressive functions within the stroma. These seemingly contradictory findings may relate to the heterogeneity of EF.
