ER Membrane Protein Complex Subunit 10 (EMC10)
Hematopoietic Signal peptide containing Secreted 1 (HSS1), a novel secreted protein discovered in hematopoietic stem cells with gene locus at chromosome 19q13.33, a chromosomal region known to have aberrations or deletions in a variety of solid human tumors, including gliomas, thyroid, prostate, kidney, pancreas, lung and also in various hematopoietic malignancies. HSS1 has a potent anti-proliferation effect on glioma-derived cells in vitro and in vivo.
Chromosome 19 is one of the 23 pairs of chromosomes in humans. People normally have two copies of this chromosome. Chromosome 19 spans more than 63 million base pairs (the building material of DNA) and represents between 2 and 2.5 percent of the total DNA in cells.
