Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) is an electrophoresis which based on polyacrylamide gel, it is usually used for detection of protein and oligonucleotide. The method uses anionic detergent sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as protein denaturants to make the protein lose their native conformation and then combine with SDS to form SDS-protein complex. This process will eliminate the influence of protein structure and electric charge to electrophoresis. Finally, the electrophoretic mobility of the protein will just depend on its molecular weight.
